Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Water (as needed)
  • A pinch of salt
  • For the Filling:
  • 250g ground chicken (or any meat of your choice)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped (optional)

Directions

  1. Make the dough: Mix the flour and salt, gradually add water, and knead until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the ground chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Roll the dough: Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch). Flatten each ball into a thin circle using a rolling pin.
  4. Fill the momo: Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges together to seal.
  5. Steam: Place the momos in a steamer and cook for 10-12 minutes or until the dough becomes translucent and the filling is cooked.
  6. Serve: Serve hot with chutney or dipping sauce.
